ResearchSpace has commissioned Seme4 Ltd to convert the British Museum's object data into CIDOC-CRM based RDF. The 2 million records will be used to conduct various tests to understand the issues for producing a working prototype and inform technical specifications. Seme4 Ltd is headed by Nigel Shadbolt and Wendy Hall and the Museum will be working with Seme4 architect Hugh Glaser and linked data specialist Ian Millard. The Museum's collection can currently be searched online in a more traditional format at http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/search_the_collection_database.aspx. The database currently contains nearly 2 million records of which more than half a million have images.
